The future for residential solar is now. Tax credits, incentives, and rebates exist at the federal, state, and local level making it a perfect time to invest in solar energy for your home.

When you combine these incentives together, you can actually offset the majority of the system cost, pay less upfront and see a return on investment in as little as 18 months in some areas.

We are also offering a no money down, no interest, no payments for up to 18-months loan program just for residential customers! Click here for more details.

Click below for a sampling of current tax credits, incentives and rebates. These incentives are constantly changing so we encourage you to contact us at for a full list of the most updated information in your local area and a free consultation.

  • Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC): Consumers can receive 30% of the cost of the solar project as a tax credit.
  • New Jersey Clean Energy Program Rebate: Consumers can receive a rebate equal to approximately 20% of the total system cost.  You can also receive a Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) every time your solar system generates a 1,000kWh. These can then be sold or traded with the average value equating to $480 for a 15-year period.
  • Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC): Consumers can receive 30% of the cost of the solar project as a tax credit.
  • New York State Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Rebate: Consumers can receive a rebate up to $20,000 per household. The program offers $2.50 per watt for systems up to 4kW and $1.50 per watt for additional capacity up to 8kW. NY Energy Star homes qualify for an additional $.50 per watt rebate.
  • Spin your electric meter backwards and get credit for the extra electricity produced by your solar energy system.

Homeowners can significantly reduce the cost of purchasing a solar PV system with LIPA's energy rebate, New York State's solar tax credit and federal tax incentives.

LIPA Rebate for Homeowners

  • $3.50 per watt for systems from 2kW to 10 kW, up to a maximum of $35,000
  • Must be a residential electric customer located in LIPA service territory
  • LIPA rebates are valid only for new grid-connected PV systems
  • Rebates are on a first-come, first-serve basis pending application pre-approval by LIPA

County Incentives

  • Sales tax is FREE on PV equipment purchases in Nassau and Suffolk Counties

New York City offers some of the best incentives for residential customers who want to invest in a solar PV system. A newly passed property tax abatement and legislation that enables solar system owners to sell back excess energy are just a few of the incentives available.

When you combine these with the federal and state incentives, you can cover up to 100% of the cost of the installation.

  • Federal Tax Credit
  • NYSERDA Rebate
  • NYC Property Tax Abatement
  • NY State Tax Credit
  • Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC): Consumers can receive 30% of the cost of the solar project as a tax credit.
  • Connecticut Clean Energy Fund Small Solar PV Rebate: Consumers can receive a state rebate in the amount of $1.75 per watt for the first 5kW and $1.25 per watt above 5kW to a maximum of 10kW.

Pennsylvania launched a very aggressive residential rebate program in 2009 that pays $2.20 per watt up to 10kW. An Alternative Energy Credit (AEC) also pays consumers .25 cents per watt with no limit. When you combine these programs with an interconnection agreement and the 30% Federal tax credit, you can drastically reduce the payback time of a residential solar system. Program rebates are for “primary residences only”.

  • AEC Credit - .25 cents per watt, no ceiling
  • Net Metering
  • 30% Federal Tax Credit
